About SMART Film - The Technology

How Much Does SMART Film CostThe most important question many people want to know but often are reluctant to ask is the price? Although it is in everyone interest to understand the price before spending time on the detail, each project is priced on various factors. However if you just want a supply only price, as a guide it is between £350- £450 exclusive of VAT per metre square depending on waste. To get an exact price please email all your individual pane sizes, photo’s if possible, any height access consideration and postcode.

What other cost will I need consider?Along with the film, other cost includes transformers, film installation, electrical installation, fitting sundries. Delivery of Film is also available should you not want Platinum Clarity to install

How is it powered?We supply you with a transformer which is connected to the Film. This has to be then connected to an isolated 13 amp fused spur at your home or office. Should you want delivery only: It is very simple and we provide clear and precise wiring diagrams for your electrician.

How is it controlled?We offer a remote control for simple operation but it is worthwhile having a hard switch wired in also. Platinum Clarity will work with you and can also install a voice activated system, however this will require access to your network and smart app features.

How Long Does It LastYou can expect it to last 20 to 30 years and about 10-20 years for our smart film product, Transformers and fixtures will have their own usage guarantee which is viewed in your Warranty.

How Much Power Does It ConsumeOne square metre of our Smart Film consumes 3 to 5 watts and only consumes electricity only in the ON (transparent) state.

How do I clean it?Simply clean with a soft cloth. We give full cleaning instructions in our manuals which we leave with the client.

Does the Film or Glass protect against harmful UV Rays.The Film and Glass does protect you from 99.6% of harmful UV rays in the Clear & frosted mode which helps your skin and also reduces fading or your soft furnishings. It will even make your glass stronger & won't shatter if there is an accident!

Here we have a standard Glass Office Pod, which has been in use for a few years. The customer wanted to introduce a privacy feature without the use of blinds or semi permanent window frosting.
Problem solved! The film was retro fitted to the film and connected to the power supply. Its now controlled via a remote control. You can see how seamlessly the transition is between private and clear, all at the click of a switch.
